As Turner Turns As Turner Turns

Professional mobility. What a glorious thing. Turner’s Dan Darling has moved into the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Entertainment Operations for Turner Entertainment Group. That’s a pretty loaded business card.

In his new role, Darling will oversee the group’s Network Oper ations Unit which broadcasts 17 cable television feeds of six Turner Broadcasting networks, as well as over-the-air feed. Darling will continue managing Turner Studios, the 130,000 square ft production entity at the Techwood campus.

CFO for the Entertainment Group, Vicky Miller said, “Dan’s appointment to this role is an im portant step toward our operation al goal of seamless transition from production to broadcast to air.”

The Network Operations unit supports TBS Superstation, WTBS-17, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, Boomerang, and Turner South as well as networks in Latin America. The department will begin transitioning into a facility at the Techwood campus.

Working under Darling, will be Craig Heyl. Heyl now fills the role of Senior Vice President for Turner Studios. He will oversee production and post production facilities. Heyl previously worked for Crawford as Vice President of the company’s post production division, where he supervised MGM’s “In the Heat of the Night” and Discovery Channel’s “Lost Civilizations.” He also served as VP of Image Tech nology and Operations for Sekani in New York.
